Brewing Mechanics

Button

Brewing is essentially what you need to do to get started with my mod. It is how you create chocolate milk which is the base of most of the recipes.

Getting Started

MilkBowlCrafting
KillerJDog's Chocolate Mod Milk Bowl Recipe

To get started you craft yourself a Bowl of Milk, not a Bucket of Milk, a Bowl of milk (its surprising how many people made that mistake when they first tried this mod). The recipe is pictured to the left.

Next you will need to make some cocoa powder. This can be accomplished in one of two ways. You can either place Minecraft's cocoa beans into a crafting table, which will yield one cocoa powder, or you can place the lump of cocoa beans from the Chocolate Mod which will yield 3 powder. The process of getting a lump of cocoa beans is explained on the Chocolate Dimension Page.

The Brewing Process

The brewing process is how you create the different kinds of chocolate milk. Each tier is more chocolaty than the last.

Heat Sources
KillerJDog's Chocolate Mod Heated Cauldron

First you will need to get a cauldron and place it over a heat source. The speed of the brewing process is determined by the heat source used under the cauldron. The only valid heat sources at this time are:

  • Lava: the fastest heat source, completing each brewing process in only three minutes

  • Fire: middle tier heat source, completing each brewing process in 6 minutes

  • Molten Carmel: the slowest heat source, completing each brewing process in 9 minutes.

The next step in the brewing process is to get the milk in the cauldron so you can start adding your ingredients. This is done by either right clicking or shift right clicking the couldron with the bowl of milk. This will not work with a bucket of milk, you must craft a bowl of milk.

After you have your milk in the cauldron you need to sweeten the milk with sugar, because everyone knows chocolate has to have lots of sugar in it. You will need 3 pieces of sugar to be exact. Right click the cauldron with the sugar to add it to your brew.

Once you've added your sugar you need to wait for it to dissolve into the milk. The amount of time this takes depends on the heat source used to heat your cauldron (see above). This process is complete when you see the sugar grains disappear and the milk in your cauldron has turned a slightly grey color.

Now it's time to brew your chocolate by adding the cocoa powder you crafted earlier. You will need 2 cocoa powders per tier of chocolate you'd like to make. Take your cocoa powder and right click the cauldron with it to add it.

Once you've added your cocoa you need to wait for it to dissolve into the milk. The amount of time this takes depends on the heat source used to heat your cauldron (see above). This process is complete when it's no longer swirling with chocolate and has changed to a light brown color.

At this point in the brewing process you MUST remove the light chocolate milk from the cauldron to continue. You can only place milk into the cauldron with bowls however the milk can be removed with either an empty bowl, or an empty bucket. The chocolate milk can be placed into bowls from the buckets with the same process as regular milk (see above).

Continuing the Brewing Process

Now that you have removed the light chocolate milk from the cauldron, the brewing process can continue. However now you have a choice. You may use the light chocolate milk to make light chocolate bars or light chocolate balls (see molding), you can continue to make your chocolate milk more chocolatey, or you can brew white chocolate milk depending on the final product you wish to make.

More Chocolatey

(Regular Chocolate Milk)

To continue to make your chocolate more chocolatey, follow the same steps as you did to make light chocolate milk. Add two more cocoa powder to the  light chocolate milk in your cauldron by right clicking the cauldron with the cocoa powder.

Once you've added your cocoa you need to wait for it to dissolve into the milk. The amount of time this takes depends on the heat source used to heat your cauldron (see above). This process is complete when it's no longer swirling with chocolate and has changed to a brown color.

or

Less Chocolatey

(White Chocolate Milk)

To make your chocolate less chocolatey, follow similar steps as you did to make light chocolate milk, except use bowls of milk instead. Add two bowls of milk to the  light chocolate milk in your cauldron by right clicking the cauldron with the bowls of milk.

Once you've added your milk you need to wait for it to dissipate into the milk. The amount of time this takes depends on the heat source used to heat your cauldron (see above). This process is complete when it's no longer swirling with milk and has changed to a yellow color.

Continuing the Brewing Process Further

If you chose the less chocolatey path the brewing process is complete. You can remove the white chocolate milk from the cauldron using either an empty bowl or an empty bucket. You can then use the milk to make white chocolate balls or white chocolate bars (see molding).

If you chose the more chocolatey path you have yet another choice to make. You can either remove your chocolate and make chocolate balls and chocolate bars (see molding), or you can continue on the brewing process and make your chocolate milk even more chocolatey. You DO NOT need to remove the chocolate milk if you choose to make your chocolate darker.

To continue to make your chocolate more chocolatey, follow the same steps as you did to make chocolate milk. Add two more cocoa powder to the chocolate milk in your cauldron by right clicking the cauldron with the cocoa powder.

KillerJDog's Chocolate Mod Dark Chocolate Milk in Cauldron

Once you've added your cocoa you need to wait for it to dissolve into the milk. The amount of time this takes depends on the heat source used to heat your cauldron (see above). This process is complete when it's no longer swirling with chocolate and has changed to a dark brown color.

At this point you can either remove your dark chocolate and make dark chocolate balls or dark chocolate bars (see molding), or you can continue on the brewing process and make your dark chocolate milk even more chocolatey. You DO NOT need to remove the chocolate milk if you choose to make your dark chocolate darker.

To continue to make your dark chocolate more chocolatey, follow the same steps as you did to make dark chocolate milk. Add two more cocoa powder to the dark chocolate milk in your cauldron by right clicking the cauldron with the cocoa powder.

KillerJDog's Chocolate Mod Extra Dark Chocolate Milk in Cauldron

Once you've added your cocoa you need to wait for it to dissolve into the milk. The amount of time this takes depends on the heat source used to heat your cauldron (see above). This process is complete when it's no longer swirling with chocolate and has changed to a very dark brown color.
